The most enjoyable morning was had in Rice College.
Ms Ryan Jennings’ 5th year LCVP class hosted a Cultural Christmas Cake Sale to raise money and awareness for Mayo Roscommon Hospice.
This was a cake sale with a difference. Our students baked treats and cakes that originated from their place of origin. Students baked goods from Ukraine, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, Poland and Latvia. While students really enjoyed a taste from home sampling their national cakes, others enjoyed the new tastes available today. It created a wonderful atmosphere of togetherness. Students from various year groups met with others from their place of origin for the first time. A real sense of belonging and connections was very evident.
The assembly area drew students out from classes with the aroma of freshly baked treats and cakes. It was an area full of laughs, conversation and of course, some very tasty treats!
A special thank you to all students and parents for the lovely bakes, also to the students, teachers and Carrabeg Stores for your support. €160.55 was raised for Mayo Roscommon Hospice. Well done to all involved.
